- Balcony Cabins Are Often Larger (Even Without the Outdoor Space)
According to Royal Caribbean’s website, Adventure of the Seas’ Spacious Ocean View Balcony cabins are 188 square feet. This is in comparison to a standard ocean view balcony which measures 162 square feet. Dubbed an “infinite balcony,” this style makes the balcony and the cabin one space. At the end of the cabin you’ll have a full window wall instead of a door leading outdoors. The top half of this wall slides down, essentially like a large horizontal window.

If you crave an exhilarating day of adventure on the water, head to Oleta State Park for a myriad of water sports in the Biscayne Bay. If you’re needing an art fix, explore the Perez Art Museum or historic Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. If a break in nature is needed, there’s no shortage of places to experience wildlife up close, head to Zoo Miami or Miami Seaquarium for interactive shows and encounters. With so many options and things to do, Miami is the perfect place to set the tone for your next cruise adventure. While the idea did not resonate with everyone, others were inspired by the concept of bringing their mattresses to their balconies, stating how comfortable and cozy it looked.

That’s not to say you can’t find larger balconies on the ship — there are some large enough in some high-end cabins to have their own hot tub — but in general the space is modest. But before you drop the money to book that balcony, there are some things you’ll want to know about sailing in this type of cabin. Feel the heat of adventure in The Magic City and cool off with a cruise to the Bahamas or Caribbean from the Miami cruise port on some of our most amped up ships yet.

For our Bahamas cruise on Adventure of the Seas, we booked a guaranteed balcony stateroom. A few weeks prior to sailing, the cruise line assigned us cabin 7232 located on the starboard side of the ship. Reviewing the deck plans, this balcony is considered a Spacious Ocean View Balcony (a 4B Category stateroom).
INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS

We all understand that a balcony cabin is also going to come with a higher price tag. What you might not realize is that the increase can vary widely. Pricing will vary ship by ship and even down to the specific cruise.
While some considered this a genius idea, others were totally against the concept and found it dumb. When you take a Miami cruise to Labadee, you’ll find lots of different ways to spend your day. Brave the longest over-water zip line in The Caribbean, known as Dragon's Breath Flight Line, to score breathtaking views of Labadee from 500 feet above the ground. Or get your adrenaline pumping on the Dragon's Tail Coaster, where you'll race down a mountainside at 30 miles per hour.

Bayside Marketplace, across from the port, is a popular waterfront shopping spot for visitors. Lincoln Road Mall spans 10 blocks of shops – and Miracle Mile is a long string of speciality stores. Cruise to Miami and head to Calle Ocho for hand-stitched guayabera shirts and hand-rolled Cuban cigars.

Explore ancient Maya ruins in Tulum, snorkel the reefs in Chankanaab, or simply stop and take in all the wonder around you on a Miami cruise to Cozumel. The bathroom on the Adventure of the Seas Spacious Ocean View Balcony is pretty typical. There is a cylinder-shaped shower with a sliding door and a strategically designed sink and toilet area. Although the desk area and storage did not look new, the love seat was an updated piece of furniture.
Many people book them for a feeling of privacy and to enjoy peaceful moments gazing out at the ship's wake. Corner cabins are a particular bonus, delivering long, wraparound outdoor spaces. Royal Caribbean sought to level the playing field on its Quantum Class ships by creating Super Studio balcony cabins. A favorite destination among Royal Caribbean cruise guests, this private island has everything you need to enjoy the ultimate beach day.
Unfortunately, the design of this balcony has a somewhat closed-off feel. Princess Cruises' latest ships — Sky Princess, Enchanted Princess and Discovery Princess — break the record for largest cruise ship balconies of any cabin on any cruise ship, according to the line. Soak up the sun along the shore and admire the Art Deco gems along lively Ocean Drive.
The cruise line will assign you a cabin prior to your sail date. Traditionally, there are dividers on either side of you, meaning that you won’t have your neighbor staring at you if you both decide to sit outside at the same time. There is a blackout curtain that you can pull to close off the light coming in, but even then there will normally be light around the edges on the sides, top and bottom.
Off to the side of the desk is a small flat-screen television that can be positioned to watch from the bed or couch. Below the television, there is also a small refrigerator that we used to keep our bottles of water cold. We first sailed on Adventure of the Seas back in 2015 with family.
